Speaker Benson Appoints Retired Lawton Administrator to Board

Kenneth Bridges has been
appointed as a member of the Education Oversight Board by Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Loyd Benson. The five-year term began July 1, 2000. Bridges resides in
Lawton and is active in the local community. He retired in 1995 from the Great Plains
Vocational and Technical School in Lawton after serving 10 years as superintendent.
From 1956 to 1985, Bridges was an employee of Lawton Public Schools. He began his
teaching career as a general science instructor and basketball coach at Central Junior High
School, where he later served as principal for five years. He has also been principal at
Lawton High School and the assistant superintendent.
Bridges received his Superintendents Certificate from the University of Oklahoma
in May 1983. He has a Masters in Education (1955) and a Bachelor of Science in Education
(1954) from Louisiana State University.
The Education Oversight Board governs the
Office of Accountability and oversees the Oklahoma
School Testing Program and the Oklahoma Educational
Indicators Program created by House Bill 1017. |
