| Call to
Order and Roll Call: Mr. Rex called the meeting to order and declared a quorum
present. |
| Approval
of Minutes: Minutes of the March 15, 2000 meeting were approved as submitted. |
| Report
of FY 2000 Year-to-Date Expenditures: Report distributed to board members. |
Progress
Report on Profiles 1999 Project: Mr. Buswell distributed final draft copies of
the Profiles 1999 State Report and a brief question and answer period followed. Concerns
were expressed by several board members that the 1990 Census data used in the Profiles
series is outdated. Mr. Hesser and Mr. Buswell explained that the data, although dated, is
presently the best source available. The concerns were recognized and the Accountability
staff agreed to examine other options over the summer for the Profiles 2000 reports.
Mr. Hesser also explained that the various Oklahoma maps within the State Report would be
available on the web site for the first time this year. The Board was also shown examples
of the report covers, poster and flyer.
Mr. Buswell reported that the state and district reports would be delivered to the printer
by the end of the week and the School Report Cards were already being printed in-house and
prepared for distribution. |
| Report
on New Legislation: Sen. Williams reported that SB 1446, previously presented to
the Board by Sen. Wilcoxson, and HB 2620, previously presented to the Board by Rep.
Staggs, had both failed to come out of committee. |
Report
on Teacher Preparation Programs: State law requires that the Oklahoma Commission
on
Teacher Preparation submit a yearly report to the Education Oversight Board. This
years report was received and reviewed by the Board. |

| Announcements:
The Board thanked the Office of Accountability for their time and effort and commended the
staff for a job well done on Profiles 1999. |

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:30 a.m. |
